The Volkswagen CC’s Looking Like A Performer

by Import RPM on November 24, 2008

There are several imports that stole the show at this year’s LA Auto Show, but one new vehicle that shouldn’t go unnoticed is the all-new 2009 Volkswagen CC. Following the latest trend in German engineering, the Volkswagen CC is a four-door coupe, offering the convenience of a sedan with the sleek profile and sporty performance of a coupe.

The four-door coupe concept, despite being a bit counter intuitive, is nothing new as it’s currently one of the hottest trends and was initiated with the Mercedes CLS. The Volkswagen CC in many ways is reminiscent of the CLS, especially considering not much else on the road shares the same swept-roofline in the rear.

Inside, the new VW CC is a bit more reserved. The interior is clean and well-appointed, albeit somewhat conservative. Aside from the design, the interior boasts plenty of amenities such iPod and USB connectivity, a Panorama sunroof, satellite navigation, and even surprising room despite the raked windshield and sloping C-pillar. That being said, rear head room has been sacrificed slightly when compared to the Passat, so six-footers beware.

The Volkswagen CC offers power and control thanks to VW’s available 280 horsepower 3.6-liter VR6 engine and available 4Motion all-wheel drive system. The base CC comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower and 207 lb. ft. of torque.

While the VW Passat is a great all-around sedan, the CC adds more style and performance to the equation, which should help it shine in the VW lineup in ways the Passat and the decreased Phaeton were incapable of doing.
