Volvo’s upcoming S60 sedan clearly has become one of the Swedish brand’s most important new vehicles in quite some time. After sales struggles, and even the brand’s sale from Ford, Volvo is in desperate need of a car that will offer volume while adhering to the brand’s commitment to safety, luxury, and interestingly enough performance. It’s this last promise that has caused the Volvo to develop a racing version of the new S60 for the Belgian Touring Car Series.
Power for this red-white-and-blue race car is supplied via a 1410 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine mounted in the center of the car which is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. It will make its racing debut April 11.
