After teasing the building of the Godzilla-powered Juke-R concept, Nissan has finally unleashed the vehicle on the track. Considered to be the world’s fastest crossover, the Juke-R features a 485-horsepower 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that’s been lifted directly from the Nissan GT-R supercar.
Although the Juke’s styling may be polarizing, consumers worldwide have embraced the quirky crossover. Due to its incredible popularity here in the U.S. and abroad, Nissan clearly has every intention of spicing things up with a high-performance model. While the Juke-R concept may not make it to showrooms, Nissan has also created the Juke Nismo concept, which was also recently unveiled.
The Juke-R is significantly more aggressive than its Nismo-tuned counterpart. Engineers aimed to make this vehicle mimic the GT-R’s handling and performance characteristics. An aggressive body kit also gives the crossover a more menacing appearance that’s akin to the GT-R. Inside, engineers even swapped out the Juke’s stock gauges with the GT-R’s controls.
“It looks like a Juke but sounds like a GT-R, and performs like one on its first circuit tests,” explains Nissan via the video below.
Nissan has built just two versions of the Juke-R, one in left-hand-drive and one in right-hand-drive. Despite its dramatic styling and blistering performance, Nissan says the Juke-R concept is actually street-legal.
