In recent months, Nissan has shown a number of electric vehicle concepts on the auto show circuit. At the Tokyo Motor Show this week, the automaker decided to mix things up by introducing a performance-tuned version of its popular Juke crossover.
The Nissan Juke Nismo Concept boasts more attitude than the standard quirky compact crossover, as well as large Brembo brakes with slotted rotors up front, stiffer springs and shocks, 19-inch wheels with performance tires, and sportier accents inside. Nissan’s in-house tuners also added new front and rear bumpers, grille and rear diffuser to improve aerodynamics.
“The global sales success of Nissan Juke has proved beyond doubt that customers are looking for something different,” said Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “The Juke Nismo Concept takes that idea to the next level. It’s energetic, distinctive and highly desirable.”
Under the hood is the familiar 1.6-liter four cylinder engine that’s found in the standard Juke, but it has been modified to crank out just a little more power.
Nissan is currently considering whether to put the Juke Nismo Concept into production, as either a completely new model or by way of an upgrade package. Let’s hope they’ll put this vehicle in showrooms soon. Stay tuned for more details.
