With the Infiniti Essence concept, revealed this week at the Geneva Motor Show, Infiniti plans to enter the burgeoning luxury-hybrid market. Infiniti, which is still growing its brand in Europe, has no plans to produce the Essence coupe, but thus far the concept has already turned plenty of heads – even as other luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Bentley and Rolls-Royce, have all introduced new models at the show. Powered by a twin turbocharged variant of Nissan’s venerable 3.7-liter VQ V6, the Infiniti Essence produces 434 horsepower. It also features a starter-generator located between the engine and the transmission, which adds another 158 horsepower and enables the Essence to run solely on electronic power at low speeds. With incredible power, surprising efficiency, and stunning styling, let’s hope some form of the Infiniti Essence concept makes it into production soon. Check out additional photos and videos below.
