Hyundai has come a long way in recent years. In terms of quality, reliability, and style, Hyundai has improved its product lineup and image. But on top of the list of improvements, Hyundai wants to remind buyers that the Korean automaker can also be known for improving refinement as well, and no better model exudes refinement than the all-new Hyundai Genesis.
As the automaker has proven itself to be on par with its Japanese competition, it has boldly decided to enter the large luxury sedan market with the 2009 Genesis. With the general size of the Chrysler 300, the Genesis is powered by a base V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower. Buyers can also opt for a powerful 375 horsepower 4.6-liter V8. Both engines send power to the rear wheels and are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Styling of the Hyundai Genesis may be considered conservative, but it could easily be mistaken for a Lexus or Mercedes with the Hyundai badging removed. Inside, the quality is unmistakable, with plenty of comforts and luxuries that one would expect in a higher-end sedan such as a Logic 7 surround sound audio system, hard-drive based navigation system, real-time traffic data, review camera, Bluetooth connectivity, front and rear park assist, and a cooled driver seat for starters.
With a packed list of safety and luxury features, not to mention the styling and dimensions that are competitive with the segment, the new Hyundai Genesis should be on the list of anyone looking for a $30K to $40K entry level luxury sedan. If you don’t base your luxury car shopping on the emblem perched on the grill, the Hyundai Genesis has much to offer, and value may be its best asset.
