If you’re interested in getting your hands on Iron Man’s Audi R8 Spyder, but for whatever reason don’t want the V10, you’re in luck! Audi has officially announced a new R8 model featuring a 4.2-liter V8 engine. Mated to either a six-speed manual or R-Tronic semi-automatic gearbox, this new engine will produce 430 horsepower which will be routed through Audi’s venerable quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. Standard equipment will include a fully-powered fabric top, 19-inch wheels, and a plethora of lightweight carbon fiber components. Visually, the Audi R8 Spyder 4.2 is expected to remain largely the same as the V10 model.
The new Audi R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI will arrive in Europe later this year with a base price of €121,000 ($147,831 USD). Unfortunately, there’s no word on U.S. availability just yet, so stay tuned for more.
