Just days after Toyota UK’s unveiling of the production GT 86, Subaru has released the first production images of its new sport coupe: the BRZ.

Since it was jointly developed with Toyota, the BRZ boasts many familiar specs and features, including a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter horizontally opposed boxer engine, a six-speed manual transmission with an available automatic (with paddle shifters), and a wheel-wheel drive layout.

Many details have yet to be revealed at this point, but Subaru says the BRZ will produce  200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Unlike Toyota’s recent announcement, Subaru divulged the new coupe’s curb weight: a modest 2,689 pounds. Like the GT 86, the BRZ will also feature “D-4S” direct injection technology borrowed from Toyota. Nimble handling will also be assured thanks to the BRZ’s low center of gravity and nearly perfect weight balance.

Look for more details on Wednesday, when the Subaru BRZ will make its official debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
