The Porsche hybrid hasn&#8217;t been in too many races, but has shown plenty of promise in Europe. Powering this unique racer is a 480 horsepower gasoline engine supplemented by two 80 horsepower electric motors that drive the front wheels for six to eight seconds. There is also a flywheel that stores kinetic energy when the car is braking. This extra bit of power gives the 911 GT3 R hybrid an innovative advantage in endurance racing and ultimately helps conserve fuel. Experimenting with this technology in racing has helped spawn consumer applications as well, such as the new Cayenne Hybrid and the Panamera S Hybrid. [...]</description>
