We may be seeing the first signs of a Saab resurgence. The Swedish brand had largely been ignored under GM control, and now that the reigns of the company will soon pass to exclusive sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg, the brand may get the attention it deserves. One of the most anticipated new Saab models will be the long, long overdue redesign of Saab’s flagship 9-5 sedan. Debuting at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the latest 9-5 will feature a larger 2.84 cm wheelbase, and will also feature a turbocharged V6 engine that will produce more than 350 horsepower. A hybrid model is also a possibility. With more powerful engines, greater interior space, and a modern design, the new 9-5 could be just what Saab needs to become a truly competitive player in the premium segment.

The 2010 Saab 9-5 may be a game changer for this troubled brand. Stay tuned.
