Mazda has made the news this week thanks to Ford relinquishing its stake in the Japanese automaker, but that isn’t the only buzz coming from Mazda. Ahead of the debut of the all-new 2010 Mazda3 at the LA Auto Show this week, Mazda has given details of the engine behind the new compact.
An all-new 2.5-liter engine that produces 167 horsepower will be under the hood of the new Mazda3, replacing the existing 2.3 liter engine. This is the optional engine to accompany the 3′s standard 2.0-liter engine four-cylinder.
In addition to its new engine, Mazda announced the five-door variant won’t be available yet when the the sedan reaches showrooms. Additional tidbits indicate the new Mazda3 will also be more tech-savvy, thanks to hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, a robust Multi-Information Display (MID), and a 10 speaker BOSE Centerpoint surround-sound audio system. Additional features include a quieter cabin, improved aerodynamics, self leveling Bi-Xenon headlights, and an adaptive front lighting system to name of few.
These days the compact car segment is more competitive than ever, and with the sleek styling of the new 2010 Mazda3, not to mention more power and a long list of high-demand features, the latest 3 should remain a strong contender when it hits showrooms. Find more info on the upcoming Mazda3 below.
